Julia Fiona Roberts was born in Atlanta on October 28, 1967 in the home of Betty Lou Bredemus and Walter Grady Roberts. Her grandfather, her great-grandfather John Pendleton Roberts, a farmer, was one of the first Roberts to move to Atlanta. Her father's passion for theatre was inherited by her. in theatre from an early time. As a college pupil in Emory University from 1952 to 1954, he was a part of several productions. He joined the Air Force in 1953. During his time being stationed at Biloxi Mississippi was cast in a military production that included Betty Lou Bredemus who was part of the Air force. The couple got married in the year 1955. Their first child, Eric Anthony, was born in the year 1956. Walter was an undergraduate at Tulane University, New Orleans Louisiana. In 1957, the couple left the airforce and Walter started his education at Tulane. Walter was employed by Atlanta Academy Theater and Harrington Scenic and Lighting Studio. The family moved in 1960 and relocated to Decatur Georgia. In 1964 Walter and Betty Lou began production on a local Saturday morning children's television show named Bum Bum and His Buddies which they financed their own. They also established the six-year Actors and Writers Workshop later in the year. In the meantime, they also had two youngsters Lelisa (called Lisa) Billingsley in the year 1965, and Julia (called Julie) in 1967.
